PokeKids Playground

Description

It's playtime at the Pokemon Kindergarten, so all the youngsters have gone out to play on the new brightly coloured adventure playground!

Wynaut is a happy-go-lucky and playful Pokemon who uses his tail to indicate his emotions. When angry he slaps the ground with it, and when he's happy, he wags it like a dog.

Tyrogue loves sports and loves proving that he's the best! During Recess, he will always be doing the most physically challenging play - whether it be climbing the ropes or trying to pick a fight with larger Pokemon.

Elekid is a real bright spark. He loves to practise his electric and tries to impress the girls. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have a lot of luck...

Chingling and Budew, as the two smallest Pokemon in the Kindergarten are the best of friends. They stay well out of everyone else's way, however, as they're so small they might get stepped on or eaten!

Cleffa, Igglybugg and Togepi are the bestest of friends. They like to hang around in a big giggly girly group gossiping about their classmates or having a silly-fun time. Indeed, they're such strong besties that they often try to do the same thing at the same time! Bellsprout wants to be a part of their clique, but she's the wrong shape!

Happiny is a happy and loving Pokemon who loves all her classmates and likes to hand them circular (or oval) stones. She's just learning to write now, so she's written a special message for her best friend, Magby.

Smoochum wants to give Mime Jr a big sloppy kiss, but he's not so keen on that idea - alas, he's too young to manage the invisible wall his daddy likes to put up when the kids get too rowdy.

Larvitar is a real little architect and Aron just wants to be his friend. He's trying to get his attention now by stealing away with his spade. I wonder if Larvitar will even notice?

Gastly wants to play, but she doesn't like bright lights. Seedot's just too shy.

Bonsly and Pineco are soaking up some rays, whilst Natu and Taillow practice their flying skills.

Twenty-one pokemon, one scene and a whole lotta colour! I'm pretty proud of this piece. IT was a challenge for me in the terms of layout. I wanted to get rid of dead space without making it look too cluttered.

Here are some technical tips for drawing scenes:
- Try to avoid large expanses of sky, grass or water, or anything that involves too much of just laying on the same colour. If you are drawing a landscape scene, break it up with pebbles, ripples or clouds.
- Instead of just drawing a whole bunch of POkemon together, try to make them interacting, make the picture tell a story - or better still - several stories. What they are can be entirely up to the audience.
- Keep the flow within the page - for example, the viewers eyes will follow the contours of the characters, especially the way they're looking - don't have anyone staring off the edge of the page if you can at all avoid it.
- Make it lively - give the characters a personality.
- Framing - the tree and the swing set form a border down the sides of the page containing the flow.

This picture is most definitely NOT for trade - I'm keeping it ^^
